Camille Palma, MD, RYT-200 is a retina specialist practicing in the Chicago-land area. She grew up in Ft Lauderdale, Florida and discovered a love of dance and body movement at a young age. She danced with a performing group at her school and had roles in multiple full-length ballets, including Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia and Cinderella. In high school she also explored basic meditation and became interested in the body-mind connection.
Dr Palma attended Stanford University and received a BA in psychology. Then she moved to the great state of Texas and completed medical school at Baylor College of Medicine. She stayed at Baylor for an internship in Internal Medicine then moved to Cleveland, Ohio for an ophthalmology residency at University Hospitals/Case Western Reserve University. She was chief resident in her last year of residency. She moved to Chicago, Illinois for a vitreoretinal diseases and surgery fellowship at Northwestern University. Chicago charmed her and she joined a private practice in the area when she was done with training where she worked for 3 years. She is now part of the teaching faculty at Cook County Stroger Hospital.
Dr Palma began practicing yoga on a regular basis after her fellowship ended. She enrolled in yoga teacher training at Corepower Yoga in February 2016 and completed a 200 hour Yoga Alliance certified training course. Over the last three years she has been an active instructor at Corepower Yoga while continuing to deepen her personal practice. Recently she transitioned from teaching group classes at the studio to developing individual classes for private clients.
